Robert Williams III threw down an alley-oop so hard the rim needed over half an hour to recover.

With eight minutes remaining in Boston's game against the Denver Nuggets, Williams caught a pass from Jaylen Brown and threw down a dunk. Play continued for several possessions before the officials stopped play because the rim was uneven.
Much like players who try to drive on Williams, Denver's arena workers were stymied at the rim. They got out levels, multiple ladders, and had different workers going up and down before deciding to replace the rim entirely. Reportedly the Nuggets had another spare basket and stanchion ready to go, but after a delay of nearly 40 minutes, they didn't want to take any more time.
When the basket was finally fixed, the crowd responded with tepid enthusiasm.
The ovation in Denver for the guys who finally finished fixing the rim might have set a record for most sarcastic applause in history.

After the delay, both teams put it in their closing lineups — everyone was very well-rested — and Denver maintained a 14-point lead. With two minutes left, Boston cleared their bench and put in the reserves, though thankfully the officials didn't insist on a backup rim for garbage time.
A dustup between Jaylen Brown and Bones Hyland provided the stoppage of play that allowed the referees to notice the askew rim.

The players got double technical fouls for the skirmish, and then they were placed in timeout, along with everyone else, for the next 36 minutes.
Williams finished with eight points and never re-entered the game after his rim-rattling effort.
