Watch: Chet Holmgren’s buzzer-beater forces OT

Chet Holmgren’s first 30-point game was huge Saturday night. Especially three particular points.

The Oklahoma City Thunder rookie hit a three-pointer in the final second of OKC’s 130-123 victory over the Golden State Warriors to send the game to overtime. The shot answered Andrew Wiggins’ three with 1.6 seconds left that put the Warriors up 117-114.

Wiggins broke out of his season-long shooting slump in a big way, going 5-for-8 from deep and leading the team with 31 points. Before Saturday’s game, Wiggins had five triples all season, in 37 attempts.

But it wasn’t enough to counter Holmgren, who posted a career-high 36 points to go with ten rebounds, five assists and two blocks. The Thunder trailed by 18 points at one point in the third quarter, before closing on a 22-6 run.

Not to be outdone, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander also had two blocks, including a swat on a Steph Curry three-pointer in overtime.

SGA outscored the Warriors 10-6 in the extra period by himself, on his way to 40 points. It was the second straight win for the Thunder over the Warriors and Golden State’s sixth straight loss, the last five all happening at home, where they’re 1-6 this season.

It’s another win for Holmgren over Curry. Not only is he 2-0 versus Curry in his NBA career, Holmgren also famously crossed up Curry at his own basketball camp as a 16-year-old.

Now that he’s 21, Holmgren has even more for Curry. The Warriors can’t be happy that they’ll have to deal with him for a long, long time.
