Friday's battle between the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns came down to a clutch, last-second three-pointer. Twice.

Unfortunately for Phoenix, Nikola Jokic's disappointment at rotating too late to stop Kevin Durant's shot motivated him to dominate in the extra period.
The three-time MVP won the overtime tip, made the first basket and went on to tally six assists in the five-minute extra period, along with five points, three rebounds and a steal. The Nuggets came away with a 149-141 win.

Christian Braun thought he'd ended a back-and-forth game with a go-ahead three-pointer with 1.4 seconds to go. But on the Suns' last play of regulation, Devin Booker managed to swing the inbounds pass to Durant, who just barely released the tying three-pointer before the buzzer and sent the game to overtime.

The Nuggets fought off a Suns team that isn't quitting after dropping 12 of their last 16 games. Denver had a 21-point lead midway through the third quarter, but the Suns chipped away and even took the lead with a late 8-0 run, scoring most of their points from the foul line and incensing Nuggets head coach Michael Malone.
Phoenix still has a chance to make the play-in tournament thanks to a Western Conference team that's having an even worse season than it. On Sunday, it plays the Dallas Mavericks on ABC, a matchup of two preseason contenders who are sitting in 10th and 11th place.
Despite their horrendous 2025 so far, the Suns would sit just 1.5 games behind the Mavs with a win on Sunday. It was another frustrating loss for Phoenix, but the end of the game, if not the result, shows the team still has fight left in it. And it still has Kevin Durant.
