Watch: Viral Video of Jaylen Brown Taunting Isaiah Stewart After Scuffle

Detroit Pistons star Isaiah Stewart is not gifted with a lot of basketball skills. What he is known for is his tenacity, which has become the backbone of his team’s defensive schemes.

That tenacity, along with the schemes of head coach JB Bickerstaff, has helped the Pistons go from being one of the worst teams in the league to currently, the 2nd best in the league.

But sometimes, that aggression can go a bit further than desired, and Stewart has found himself clashing with some of the who’s who of the league. From the time when LeBron James opened a gash on his face, leading him to try to chase down the Lakers superstar, only to be held back by several Pistons, as well as security staff.

He also had skirmishes with Draymond Green and Stephen Curry on different occasions, only to be trolled after the Warriors ended up on the winning side. Earlier, when facing the Boston Celtics, Jaylen Brown was not having any of Isaiah Stewart’s antics and decided to give him a taste of his own medicine.

While waiting to grab a rebound off a free throw, the 2024 Finals MVP awardee tried to push the Pistons star away from the ball. To counter that push, Stewart tried to yank Brown towards the other side.

But the Celtics star did not let go of his grip and kept pushing the Washington alum. At this juncture, Isaiah Stewart used his arm against Brown’s throat. Instantly, the latter retaliated with the same move, which led officials to slap technical fouls on both of them.

Isaiah Stewart had the last laugh despite Jaylen Brown’s taunts

While officials were handing out technical fouls, Jaylen Brown was captured on camera raising his wrist. That was a clap back at the Pistons’ star for doing the same towards Bobby Portis a couple of days ago.

The last time he continued a fight, it turned out into an arrest, and then his team and lawyers had to work out ways to avoid that becoming a PR nightmare. Instead, Isaiah Stewart proceeded to continue with the task his head coach had given him, and that was to impose his defensive will on the home team.

That worked in their favor, as a while after that scuffle, the away team started a rally which turned the tables on the Celtics, both in the 3rd as well as the 4th quarters.

The comeback was enough to overpower the 2024 champions late in the game, and the Detroit Pistons ended up winning 112-105. Stewart ended up having the last laugh, even though he could have tried to fight Jaylen Brown when it was his moment.

Isaiah Stewart’s head coach had high praise for him

When a player routinely gets into scuffles and other antics, the team’s head coach usually has a tough time reigning in the aggression. Only when the player’s contributions surpass those antics does it make sense to keep him.

He’s the best defensive center in the league, and it’s not close. I think it’s time for everybody who watches basketball to recognize it. It’s not just something that we see here in Detroit, he’s the best defensive big in the game.

JB Bickerstaff said

The Pistons’ head coach believes the 24-year-old’s defensive contributions are critical to the franchise’s success. That is high enough praise to let Isaiah Stewart‘s critics know that his antics are not all that make him a valuable member of his team.

At a time when such antics are generally reprimanded, it seems Isaiah Stewart has made a name for himself both through his aggression and his elite defensive capabilities.
