Wembanyama OUT vs. Bulls; Why?

JAN 9 CADE CUNNINGHAM IS OUT 7-10 DAYS The Detroit Pistons will be without point guard Cade Cunningham for at least a week, per The Athletic's Shams Charania. Cunningham suffered a knee injury in Detroit's loss to Denver.

The San Antonio Spurs travel to Detroit on Wednesday to take on the Pistons and should be heavily favored with the absence of Cunningham. 

JAN 2 SPURS APPLY FOR DPE The San Antonio Spurs are trying to exhaust every resource they can.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Spurs are applying for a disabled player exception (DPE) after center Charles Bassey tore his ACL and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Spotrac's Keith Smith explained the meaning of the DPE and why the Spurs are applying for it.

"The DPE will be worth $1.3M, if granted," Smith tweeted. "It can be used through March 10. Basically, a case of putting a tool in the toolbox, even if you might not end up needing it."

DEC 29 BEEF STEW SIDELINED, OUT VS. SPURS? When the Detroit Pistons take on the San Antonio Spurs in early January, they may do so without one of their key players.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart will miss the next 10-14 days with a toe sprain.

The Spurs visit the Pistons on Wednesday, Jan. 10. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.

DEC 18 WEMBY OUT VS. BUCKS Victor Wembanyama will have to wait for his first meeting against Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The San Antonio Spurs are ruling Wembanyama out for Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks with ankle soreness.

Wembanyama is expected to return Thursday against the Chicago Bulls.

DEC 15 MOBLEY GETS KNEE SURGERY One of the Cleveland Cavaliers' best players is expected to be sidelined for a while.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Cavaliers forward Evan Mobley will be out for 6-8 weeks recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery.

The Cavs play the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 7 and Feb. 3, which means Mobley could miss both meetings between the two teams.

DEC 12 BASSEY TEARS ACL The San Antonio Spurs will be without Charles Bassey for the rest of the season after the team announced that the big man tore his ACL against the Texas Legends in Sunday's Austin Spurs G League game.

Bassey played 19 games with the NBA squad this season, averaging 3.3 points per game.

DEC 9 AMEN THOMPSON BACK VS. SPURS The San Antonio Spurs face the Houston Rockets on Monday and they are getting back one of their top players.

No. 4 overall pick Amen Thompson is being called up by the Rockets and could make his return to the lineup as early as Monday against the Spurs, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

Thompson was injured on Nov. 1 with an ankle injury and has been sidelined ever since. Now, the Rockets' top rookie could be giving the team a big boost in the rotation.

DEC 1 WEMBANYAMA RULED OUT Victor Wembanyama (hip tightness) will sit for the second half of a back-to-back, tonight at New Orleans, per Spurs PR.

The first-overall draft pick has not missed a game so far this season and is averaging 19.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks.
