What Did Warriors Say About Klay Thompson's Return?
© Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Ahead of the Golden State Warriors reunion with Klay Thompson, via a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, the Stephen Curry-led team shared their thanks for the former Splash Brother on social media. The Warriors host the Mavericks at the Chase Center in part of the debut of the Emirates NBA Cup.

Steve Kerr never hid his appreciation for Thompson. Throughout the good and the bad times, the Warriors head coach displayed nothing but respect for the four-time champion. In the video, Kerr said Thompson's time with the Warriors warrants the five-time All-Star a statue.

"You are an icon in this franchise. Your statue will be outside Chase [Center] one day," Kerr claimed

There is no Warriors dynasty without Thompson. "Game-Six Klay" performed in the clutch on numerous occasions. Furthermore, Thompson's contributions rank high in franchise history in a multitude of statistical categories.

Thompson is second in 3-point shots made, trailing only Curry. The five-time All-Star is fourth in games played for the Warriors. Considering statues seem to be given out for fewer accomplishments lately, Thompson's championship-level production warrants a bronze representation.

The video went on to communicate Curry missing his Splash Brother and Draymond Green calling Thompson his "brother" and praises of "legend" before the video's tone shifted.

Although the tribute video began wholesome, it ended in a competitive tone.

The Warriors collectively said they look to "kick his (expletive)" and wished Thompson an off-shooting performance. Lastly, Gary Payton II ended the video with, "I'm going to foul you."

As the video communicated, the Warriors have mixed emotions for Thompson's return to San Francisco. On one hand, Thompson deserves his respect and admiration for what he accomplished with the franchise. However, it's a business, and he left, so now it's time for the Warriors to perceive Thompson as a rival.

Tuesday night feels like an instant classic in the making.
