What does the Phoenix Suns’ future look like after being swept by the Thunder?

After getting swept in the first round of the 2025-26 NBA playoffs on Monday night by the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the questions are immediately being asked about the future. Are the Phoenix Suns going to continue to roll with this trio, or are moves going to be made this offseason?

The sweep at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder wasn’t just decisive, it was revealing. Booker, long positioned as the Suns’ offensive engine, looked stuck between roles in the beginning. At times, attempting to function as a point guard, he struggled to initiate clean sets, often facing immediate double teams that forced the ball out of his hands. Without a true floor general to stabilize possessions, Phoenix’s offense became predictable late-clock isolations, rushed jumpers, and long scoring droughts. Booker ended the night strong and finished with [insert points], but the number doesn’t capture the larger issue that rhythm wasn’t there the majority of the game.

Defensively, the breakdowns were just as costly. Oklahoma City generated open looks through simple ball movement, exposing slow rotations and inconsistent communication. Championship contenders don’t give up that many clean shots in a playoff setting, especially not repeatedly.

Now comes the hard part. The Suns must evaluate everything from Devin Booker’s long-term role relative to his contract, the durability and fit of Jalen Green, to what Dillon Brooks actually provides within a postseason rotation. One year into this version of the “big three,” the returns are unclear, although they could seem to keep the idea alive after exceeding expectations this season. It will surely be an interesting offseason for the Phoenix Suns, and one that fans are going to keep close attention to.
