What Happened Between Warriors, KD?

For a time, regardless of how short it was, the Golden State Warriors led in probability to land Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant in a trade. However, something occurred, and the Warriors swiftly launched their attention to the Miami Heat's disgruntled star, Jimmy Butler. A report revealed "cold' feelings regarding the Warriors and Durant.

The Warriors traded for Butler in a mega multi-team deal. However, such a trade could have disintegrated if it hadn't been for the intel allegedly provided by Warriors star Stephen Curry.

According to The Athletic's Anthony Slater, Curry had a conversation with Durant that "convinced him a reunion was extremely unlikely, no matter how much the Golden State Warriors ownership group and front office collectively 'underestimated' Durant’s coldness toward a return."

NBA insider Marc Stein reported that a Durant-to-Warriors trade is unlikely.

"It is believed that Durant has some serious reservations about a second Warriors stint if he were to be shipped there," Stein reported.

The Warriors won two NBA championships during Durant's tenure and appeared in three NBA Finals. However, as Durant indicated with his move to the Brooklyn Nets, not everything is about winning championships.

The inflammatory Draymond Green could complicate such a reunion, but even if the Warriors traded the elite defender, Durant might not believe in second chances.

Ultimately, Durant, in whatever control he had, decided to stay in Phoenix unless its team governor, Mat Ishbia, says otherwise as the trade deadline nears its final tick.

Although Durant's decision to stay in Phoenix over a team he won multiple championships with seems "cold," at least Curry received the information necessary for the Warriors to move on from their past superstar and succeed in trading for Butler.
