It's been a rough night for Jalen Brunson. Despite a 54-50 first-half lead over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night, Brunson went an abysmal 1-7 from the field and 0-3 from 3. However, the night of the New York Knicks All-NBA point guard worsened after he turned his ankle in the third quarter.
TNT's Stephanie Ready reported that Brunson could return after rolling his ankle and stepping on Caleb Martin's foot.
The Knicks and their fans can breathe a sigh of relief as they avoid serious injury to the team captain and the best player. New York's injury issues to their frontcourt of Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achuiwa put the Eastern Conference team in a compromising position on defense.
Brunson's return to action will bolster a team responsible for a 12-3 run in the third quarter. The Knicks need all the help they can get, considering their 4-5 start. Despite their defensive struggles, Tom Thibodeau has the Knicks in an elite position regarding their offense. New York ranks second in offensive rating, proving Karl-Anthony Towns and Brunson can provide a legitimate punch.
However, the Knicks' defense must stand tall vs. a returning Joel Embiid and a sizzling Paul George.
