The San Antonio Spurs improved to 2-1 without Victor Wembanyama in the lineup. A large reason for San Antonio's close 126-118 win over the Utah Jazz on Thursday night was a history-making performance for veteran starting point guard Chris Paul.

This victory was an uphill battle for the Spurs. They fell behind 35-17 after the first quarter. A strong second half would power them to the victory. The Spurs outscored the Jazz 75-51 after the halftime break.

It was another strong performance from Paul in this one, notching his seventh double-double of the season. He recorded 13 points and 10 assists.

Even at the age of 39, Paul continues to prove he still has a lot left in the tank with performances like this one. The Point God set a new NBA record, just 16 games into this season for the Spurs.

According to StatMamba on X, Paul has the most 10 assist games by a player in their 20th season in NBA history. At the rate he's going, one would imagine that CP3 will add on more than a few additional tallies to this record.

Paul is averaging 10.8 points and 8.6 assists per game during this campaign. He has recorded a double-double in four of his last six games.

The Spurs improved to 8-8 with the win against the Jazz. Early in this season, they are sitting just outside of the Play-In Tournament positions in the Western Conference standings.

San Antonio currently holds the 12th spot, remaining half a game back of the three teams tied at 8-7 on the season. Their next game will be Saturday night against the Golden State Warriors.
