LeBron James has been one of the best players in the history of the game, some might say the best to ever do it. He has accomplished things that players have dreamed of doing, and he’s done it at the highest level for 23 years, and counting. No one has questioned his love and commitment to the game, but at some point, when will he decide to stop? He is 41 years old and still going strong. Yeah, we’ve seen players play at that age in the NBA before, but nothing like how James is doing it. The question that everyone wants to know: when will LeBron retire?

How Much Longer Does LeBron James Have In The League?

It’s crazy that we are still having this discussion that he’s even in the league still, but even crazier that he’s still one of the best players in the world. It feels like we’ve been saying, “Oh, next year will be his last”, for the past 3-4 years. His game does look different from years past, but he’s still playing at an elite level, which is probably why he hasn’t walked away from the game yet. His role has changed; he’s no longer the number one option that we have been accustomed to in the past. He has taken on more of a role player type of role on this current Lakers team.

Will LeBron just continue to play until the wheels fall off? If we’re being brutally honest, if he continues to take care of his body the way he has his entire career, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be able to play until he’s 45. Obviously, his role at that time might be a bench role, but the knowledge that he brings is something like we’ve never seen before. Who wouldn’t want the basketball IQ of someone like LeBron James coming off your bench, and showing your team how things are supposed to be done?

End Of LeBron James Rant

There have been rumors that LeBron could end up on the Cavaliers next year on a one year deal so that he could finish his career in his hometown. This would be a storybook type of ending to a legendary career for one of the games best to ever do it. We don’t know for sure when he plans on retiring, but whenever that day does arrive, the whole sports world will congratulate everything that he has brought to this game.
