Who Are The Top 6 Trade Targets For Warriors?
Stephen Lew-Imagn Images

With the 2024-25 NBA season officially crossing over into 2025, the NBA Trade Deadline creeps closer and closer. There is a little over a month left until this year's deadline of Feb. 6. One would expect the Golden State Warriors to be one of the busier teams between now and then.

There was so much optimism in Golden State after their 12-3 start. They proceeded to lose 13 of their next 17 games, and that initial promise quickly evaporated. Now, they are searching for answers.

The Warriors have already tapped the well of the trade market once this season, acquiring Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets. The veteran guard has experienced a slow start in Golden State, averaging 9.1 points, while shooting 29.7 percent from the field, and 3.9 assists per game.

The jury will remain out on whether Schroder proves to be an impactful addition for the Warriors. However, he likely will not be the last one before the trade deadline.

Michael Scotto reported the latest list of targets for the Warriors, leading up to Feb. 6.

"Golden State has done its due diligence on several notable players on the trade market, including but not limited to Jimmy Butler – whom Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. played with in Chicago – Brandon Ingram, Cam Johnson, Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, Kyle Kuzma, etc."

The list makes it abundantly clear that the Warriors are looking to add a borderline All-Star talent to their team. ... and it's more than just Butler, who the Los Angeles Lakers are not apparently not pursuing.

Scotto also added this next part in his report.

"Golden State is expected to remain active leading up to the trade deadline, league sources said. The Warriors can flip Schroder in a trade if needed, have young assets in Kuminga, Moses Moody and Brandin Podziemski, expiring contracts of Gary Payton II ($9.13 million) and Kevon Looney ($8 million), and they own all of their first-round picks except for 2030, which is protected 1-20 to Washington."

It appears there is a top six target list of sorts, but probably more, as it also appears that no stone will be left unturned in the Warriors' pursuit of a fifth title in the Stephen Curry era.

The Warriors are ranked 21st in the league when it comes to offensive rating (110.7). There is a clear need to add some additional firepower to this team. Based on the targets listed by Scotto, it appears the Warriors are more than clued in on that fact too.
