The Utah Jazz were once a perennial playoff team in the Western Conference.
However, the departures of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert have led the Utah Jazz straight into a rebuilding phase.
The Jazz completely embraced it, which was evident after parting ways with head coach Quin Snyder . In place of Snyder, the Jazz entrusted the rebuilding process to Will Hardy.
With that said, let’s take a look at Hardy’s NBA coaching experience so far ahead of the 2025-26 season.
While Hardy doesn’t have prior NBA playing experience, he still landed a job as an assistant coach under Gregg Popovich with the San Antonio Spurs in 2016.
At the time, Hardy was just 29 years old. He would go on to spend five years with the Spurs before leaving the organization.
Hardy then joined the Boston Celtics, but spent just a single season with the team. By the summer of 2022, Hardy had already found a head coaching job with the Jazz.
He has spent three seasons as the head coach of the Jazz, but the team has struggled to play well. After all, they have gone just 85-161 in 246 games under coach Hardy.
Even with an underwhelming regular-season record and no postseason success, the Jazz are patient with their current experiment.
This is evident from the fact that the Jazz signed Hardy to a long-term contract extension ahead of the 2025-26 season.
To be precise, Hardy’s new deal will run through the end of the 2030-31 season. It shows the Jazz’s top brass’ trust in the young head coach.
The only question is when fans will finally witness a winning season under coach Hardy. Will it be the 2025-26 season? No one can tell.
