During the second half of the 2010s, the Golden State Warriors dominated the NBA like no other team.

After all, the Golden State Warriors made it to five straight NBA Finals from 2015 to 2019. In those five trips, the Dubs won three NBA Championships.

Speaking of that run, the Warriors faced off against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers for four straight years.

Evidently, it shaped into one of the biggest rivalries in NBA history as many LBJ fans started to hate the Warriors.

Amen Thompson started hating the Golden State Warriors as a LeBron James fan

Houston Rockets star Amen Thompson recently made an appearance on ‘The Young Man and the Three’ podcast along with his brother, Ausar Thompson.

During the episode, Amen revealed how he turned into a Warriors hater because of being a fan of James.

“No,” Thompson said when asked if he was a Warriors fan. “I was a LeBron fan, I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t dislike the Warriors.”

“I actually liked the Warriors, until they had to start playing LeBron. And then I’m like, ‘Okay, now I hate the Warriors,'” Thompson added.

Considering Stephen Curry’s Warriors have a 3-1 record against James and the Cavs in the NBA Finals, it makes sense that Thompson dislikes the Dubs.

Amen Thompson failed to take revenge against the Golden State Warriors

Thompson is considered among the best young stars in the NBA right now. In fact, Thompson now plays against his idol, LeBron James.

Considering his hatred for the Warriors, the 22-year-old had the perfect chance to take revenge during the 2025 NBA Playoffs. After all, the Rockets and Warriors met in the opening round of the postseason.

Unfortunately, being an inexperienced side, Thompson’s Rockets suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 series defeat at the hands of the Warriors.

But with Kevin Durant’s arrival, the Rockets will have a much better chance of defeating the Warriors if the two sides meet again in the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
