Why Philadelphia 76ers Vet Is Wary of Dangerous New York Knicks
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

There’s no denying the New York Knicks are on team to look out for in this year’s playoffs. And after facing against them in the first round recently, Philadelphia 76ers star Kelly Oubre Jr. got a first-hand look why the Jalen Brunson-led team is a dangerous bunch to face in the postseason.

During the first game between the two teams, the Knicks went home with the 111-104 win at the Madison Square Garden. Even though he only shot 30 percent from the field, Brunson still posted 22 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Josh Hart tallied 22 points and 13 points, while Miles McBride added 21 points from the bench.

The 76ers, on the other hand, had a monster game from Tyrese Maxey when the All-Star guard dropped 33 points on 53 percent shooting from the field. Before leaving the game due to a knee injury, Joel Embiid notched 29 points and eight rebounds. Kyle Lowry contributed 18 points in 38 minutes.

Unfortunately, Embiid aggravated his injured knee when the All-Star big man made a dunk during the second quarter. Without his presence on the court, the Sixers struggled to keep up with New York’s offense, leading to their Game 1 loss.

Philadelphia 76ers Star Kelly Oubre Jr. Explains Why New York Knicks is a Dangerous Team

After the game, Oubre spoke to reporters and explained why the Knicks are such a dangerous team to face. In a post shared by Knicks Videos on X:

Even without Julius Randle, the Knicks still have a lot of talented players who can match up with almost anyone in the league. With guys like OG Anunoby, Miles McBride, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Donte DiVincenzo in the lineup, they’re proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the postseason.

With Embiid out, the remaining players in Philly’s lineup must step up and carry the load. Otherwise, they’ll find themselves exiting the playoffs early at the hands of the Knicks.
