Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards made an improbable return to the court on Monday for Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs.
Edwards played just nine days after hyperextending his left knee during Game 4 of Minnesota’s first-round series against the Denver Nuggets. The 24-year-old was originally expected to miss multiple weeks, yet instead came off the bench and delivered in a big way.
He helped the Timberwolves steal Game 1 on the road with an exceptional performance, posting 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting along with three rebounds, three assists and just one turnover in 25 minutes of action.
As Minnesota prepares for Game 2, fans are naturally wondering whether Edwards will once again be available and in what capacity. In addition to the left knee injury, Edwards dealt with right knee issues throughout the regular season, often receiving time off even if he previously suited up.
Ahead of Wednesday’s matchup, Minnesota announced its latest update, officially listing Edwards as questionable.
While the designation is not definitive, more clarity should emerge closer to tip-off. This marks the second straight game Edwards has been marked questionable, and he ultimately played in Game 1 despite the label.
It remains unclear when he will return to the starting lineup or whether he will continue coming off the bench as he works his way back to full strength.

The Timberwolves are a different team with Edwards on the floor, where he serves as their offensive engine. He remains one of the brightest superstars in the NBA.
The former No. 1 overall pick has already earned four All-Star selections and two All-NBA honors across his first six seasons. He is aiming to lead Minnesota to the Western Conference Finals for the third straight year, and this time, he hopes the journey ends with a trip to the NBA Finals.
