Will Trae Young, Chet Holmgren Play in Thunder-Hawks Matchup?

The Oklahoma City Thunder are on the road to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Friday as they look to continue their dominant season.

Oklahoma City is coming off an 18-point comeback win against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. The Thunder also enter Friday’s game having won eight of their last 10 games and look to keep it rolling against a shorthanded Hawks team.

Of course, the Thunder will also enter Friday night’s matchup shorthanded and they may also be without one of their star players. Oklahoma City has already ruled out Alex Caruso, Ousmane Dieng, Ajay Mitchell, Nikola Topic.

The Thunder have also listed their star big man Chet Holmgren as questionable with a right calf contusion. Of course, Holmgren recently returned after being sidelined for almost three months with a hip injury and his status is now in doubt for Friday’s game.

If Holmgren does miss the Thunder’s matchup in Atlanta, expect Cason Wallace to draw another start since he has filled in for the star forward while he has sat out back-to-backs since returning.

On the other side, the Hawks may also be without one of their star players. They have already ruled out Jalen Johnson, Kobe Bufkin, Larry Nance Jr. and Vit Krejci, and they may also be without Trae Young.

Atlanta has listed Young as probable with a Achilles tendinitis. The good news for the Hawks is that he is expected to play barring a setback before tipoff, and they will desperately need him against the Thunder, who are one of the best teams in the NBA.

Fans can catch Friday night’s matchup between the Thunder and Hawks from Atlanta at 7:30 p.m. EST.
