The Golden State Warriors, with their aging core of Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, and Stephen Curry, are all-in on winning in the next two or three seasons.
It's very clear that after Curry retires, the Warriors will undergo a several-season-long rebuild. They have committed to success now and know that a player of Curry's caliber will not enter the league for the next several seasons, much less land in Golden State.
While their elite trio can compete in a loaded Western Conference, they lack a true center down low to block shots and score in the paint, and adding wing depth or an off-ball threat is always a good idea.
A recently proposed trade by Sportskeeda's Arhaan Raje sees Golden State land a formerly rejected player and a coveted wing in a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Hornets.
Full Mock Trade Details
It's clear that Kuminga will not play in Golden State next season, and as a restricted free agent, the Warriors can offer him the most money before trading him. The young Nets make the most sense, and by taking on a first-round pick, they are able to continue their youth movement.
The Hornets, meanwhile, agreed to a deal that would send Williams to the Los Angeles Lakers for Dalton Knecht and a first-round pick before he failed a physical.
His trade value likely took a hit, although the Hornets added a young wing in Moody and a frontcourt player in the mock trade.
The trade makes it clear that the Warriors are all-in on immediate success, although as long as Curry is on the roster, that is how they will have to build.
