The Washington Wizards are acquiring Cam Whitmore in a trade with the Houston Rockets for a 2026 second-round pick, per Shams Charania of ESPN.
Whitmore gives the Wizards another promising young wing on a roster full of them, while the Rockets are getting some salary relief to help finalize the multi-team Kevin Durant trade involving the Phoenix Suns.

“The Rockets worked with Whitmore, the No. 20 pick in 2023, and his reps at WME Basketball over the last few weeks on a new home,” Charania wrote. “He has averaged 10.8 points over two years — last season scoring 0.46 points per touch, 4th-best among players to record 1,000 touches.”
Whitmore can also be a pest defensively — an area in which Washington can afford to improve.
