In just four games, the 7-footer looks stronger, smarter, and more efficient — and the Wizards are already reaping the benefits.

Through the first week of the new season, Washington Wizards forward-center Alex Sarr is making it clear: he’s not the same player he was a year ago.

The 7-footer has opened his second NBA season with a stretch of assertive, efficient basketball. He’s rebounding harder, scoring more cleanly, and making smarter plays on both ends. Four games in, he’s looking more comfortable in his role — and more confident in what he can do.

The most telling example came in his latest performance, a high-energy overtime loss to Philadelphia on Oct. 28. Sarr finished with 31 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals in 34 minutes, shooting 56.5% from the field and hitting 3 of 7 from beyond the arc. It was the kind of game that doesn’t just hint at potential — it signals arrival.

Through four games, Sarr is averaging 19.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and shooting 55.2% from the field, 36.4% from three and 83.3% from the line. These are massive strides from a rookie season where efficiency and polish lagged behind his athletic tools.

The biggest shift is in his offensive decision-making. Sarr is taking better shots, moving without the ball, and finishing more consistently inside. He’s also expanding his range — now a credible threat from deep — and showing real vision as a playmaker, averaging 4.5 assists while helping the offense run through him at times.

Defensively, he’s anchoring. He’s altering shots at the rim, switching onto guards when needed, and doing it all without falling into foul trouble. His presence on that end has helped the Wizards stay competitive in high-paced games, even as the team struggles to close.

Four games don’t define a season, but they can reveal a shift. And right now, Alex Sarr is playing with the control and confidence of someone who’s figured something out. If this is the new baseline, the leap has already begun.
