Juju Reese delivered a breakout performance with 26 points and 17 rebounds, and the Wizards snapped a 16-game losing streak with a convincing 133-110 win over the Jazz on Wednesday night.
Will Riley added 19 points and 10 rebounds as the rookie duo powered Washington to its first victory since Feb. 20. The pair also made franchise history, becoming the first Wizards rookie teammates to record double-doubles in the same game since John Wall and Jordan Crawford in 2011.
Washington controlled the game from the outset, never trailing and building a lead that ballooned to 37 late in the third quarter. Despite the lopsided score, Utah mounted a late push with a 23-2 run in the fourth to cut the deficit to 13 midway through the period.
The Wizards quickly steadied themselves down the stretch, with Reese and Sharife Cooper hitting timely shots to halt the rally and secure the win.
Utah was led by Cody Williams with 24 points, while Blake Hinson scored a career-high 21. John Konchar contributed 14 rebounds for the Jazz, who have now dropped 15 of their last 18 games.
Washington dominated the glass, out-rebounding Utah 56-40, a key factor in maintaining control throughout most of the night.
Injury concerns linger for the Wizards, as Kyshawn George was diagnosed with a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow and will be reevaluated in a week.
Up next: The Wizards head west to face the Golden State Warriors on Friday, while the Jazz travel to take on the Denver Nuggets the same night.
