There is no doubt that Klutch Sports is one of the best agencies in all of American sports. They represent NBA players, such as the former Laker duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, as well as NFL superstars like Jalen Hurts and Myles Garrett. CEO Rich Paul has his fingerprints all over American sports. And now, Washington Wizards guard Bub Carrington has made the switch to the agency.
Carrington will be joining Klutch Sports after a season with Nick Blatchford of UNLTD Sports and Danny Green of Green Sports Management, according to The Athletic’s David Aldridge. This move is certainly a good one for Carrington. He’ll now be represented by one of the best agencies in the country. Heading into his sophomore campaign, Carrington still has three years left on his rookie deal. However, this move will maximize his potential earnings once his contract is up for negotiation.
Carrington had an up-and-down start to his NBA career. While Carrington played every game this past season, his numbers were average at best. He averaged 9.8 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.2 rebounds in 30 minutes of playing time. He ended the season being voted to the All-Rookie Second Team. This move shows the agency’s belief in Carrington’s potential, and they have every reason to believe in him.
He doesn’t have the same luxury that fellow 2024 draftee Alex Sarr has yet. However, with his role possibly expanding, he has a real chance to lock down his future in a Wizards jersey.
This upcoming season, Carrington is carrying high hopes, with a possible starting position on the line throughout the season. While the depth chart at guard is stacked, Carrington should have ample chances to hold his minutes during the season. If he can improve and show Washington an even stronger playmaking ability, he’ll secure that long-term franchise tag, like Sarr and Tre Johnson.
In the near future, Carrington will need to evolve as a scorer. With Jordan Poole being traded this offseason, the Wizards lost their primary playmaker and scorer from last season. While Carrington has already shown promise in the passing game, he’ll need to become more consistent. His shooting splits of 40.1% from the field and 33.9% from three are alright for a rookie, but they will need to rise as he progresses in the NBA.
Carrington will be NBA client number 42 for Klutch Sports. He’s the latest signing of a young cast of players like teammate Will Riley and number ten overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, Khaman Maluach. With this new strategy of targeting young clients, Klutch Sports will be firmly established in the NBA for a long time. Not only do they represent some of the best in the league, but they now have a grasp on some of the players with the highest upside.
Carrington is arguably one of the best young point guards in the NBA. He takes a great opportunity with Klutch Sports, which will maximize his chances at a payday if he can show continuous improvement. While it may not change anything immediately, it’ll be great for him in the long run. Carrington needs to have a productive campaign for the Wizards, but he’s certainly up for the task.
