Wizards' Plan For Saddiq Bey Revealed: Report

One of the Washington Wizards' young prospects is getting ready to return to action. Former Detroit Pistons first-round pick Saddiq Bey suffered an ACL tear around a year ago, on March 10, 2024 while he was with the Atlanta Hawks. Bey, who signed with the Wizards during the offseason, is yet to play a minute for Washington.

A full year after his injury, Bey is preparing to return to action. Wizards beat reporter Josh Robbins reported that Bey will be practicing with the team's G-League affiliate in the next few days.

"Saddiq Bey will practice with the G League's Go-Go today and Saturday, sources told @TheAthletic," Robbins reported. "The Washington Wizards' goal is for Bey to play in NBA regular-season games in April. Bey tore his left knee's ACL on March 10, 2024."

In his last healthy season with the Hawks, Bey averaged 13.7 points per game on 41.6% shooting, along with 6.5 rebounds and 0.8 steals. The 19th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Bey is another wing prospect who could make an impact for the Wizards. He signed a three-year, $20 million with Washington.

With a 15-55 record and the season nearly over, the Wizards aren't playing for anything significant other than their draft position. It's the perfect opportunity for Bey to see some action and get acclimated to NBA play again.
