Amid the NBA’s LeBron James sweepstakes, the New York Knicks were reportedly a dark horse to land the future Hall of Fame forward, which OG Anunoby addressed following his championship run. While Anunoby is still asked about his game-winner in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, OG also discussed how he would have reacted to the Knicks landing LeBron after winning their first title in 53 years.

In a question framed as would you rather compete against or not, Anunoby didn’t hold back on his take about James joining the Knicks, per Sports Illustrated.

“If he wanted to join the team, then he could join,” Anunoby said. “He could do whatever he wanted to. He’s earned the right to choose his destination. He’s a legendary player. If he had wanted to come here, then, yeah, I’d welcome it.”

As LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and the 76ers are projected to be one of the more competitive teams in the Eastern Conference, the defending champion Knicks will host them at Madison Square Garden on Opening Night.

OG Anunoby reflects on game-winning shot amid Knicks’ Finals victory

Knicks forward OG Anunoby’s game-winning tip-in won an ESPY for best play of the season. It’ll go down in history as the greatest shot in franchise history for the Knicks.

Anunoby is still in awe of the moment, which topped off a 29-point Knicks comeback, as he reflected on the historic moment, per Fadeaway World’s Mark Medina.

“I’m not over it as if I don’t care about it. It’s more about that I’m ready for the next season,” Anunoby said. “It was fun winning a championship. It was amazing. But we all want to do it again. So it’s about getting ready to start the next season. Hopefully we can do it again.”

Anunoby’s and the Knicks’ 107-106 Game 4 victory secured a 3-1 lead before Game 5’s 94-90 win eliminated the Spurs, 4-1.
