President Trump sat down with Fox News host Trey Gowdy this weekend for a wide-ranging interview. One question in particular produced an answer nobody expected.

Gowdy asked Trump who he’d choose for his dream golf foursome, given the chance to pick anyone. Trump, who owns golf courses around the world and claims multiple club championships of his own, didn’t hesitate on his first two picks.

His third pick was a real surprise.

Donald Trump Started With Two Familiar Names

“I love Jack, okay, Jack is great,” Trump said, referring to 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus.

He followed immediately with his second choice. “I happen to love Tiger, Tiger is a great guy,” he said, naming Tiger Woods.

Both picks tracked with Trump’s well-documented golf relationships. He awarded Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019, and the two have played together repeatedly over the years, most recently when Woods called Trump moments before his DUI arrest following a car crash earlier this year.

Nicklaus has designed golf courses for Trump’s business and remained a vocal supporter throughout his political career.

Trump then added a personal twist.

“It’s funny, I played one round of golf with my father, and he never played golf before,” Trump said. “And I remember how good his swing was. I think my father had a lot of… I’d love to have my father back. I’d love to have my father back.”

The Interview Covered More Than Just Golf

Trump has built one of the most documented golf résumés of any modern president, having played rounds with athletes including Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Scottie Scheffler.

His courses have hosted both PGA Tour and LIV Golf events in recent years, including stops in Washington, D.C., Bedminster, and Doral. That relationship with the sport has continued expanding, with the PGA Tour reportedly planning to add a new event at Trump National Doral during the week following the 2026 Masters.

The interview touched on subjects well beyond golf, including the economy and foreign policy, drawing mixed reactions from viewers online.

Trump’s comments about his father, though, stood out as the moment that resonated most, offering a rare personal glimpse from a president more often associated with celebrity golf partners than family memories on the course.
