Popular Television Host Gets Sentenced To Death

The 39-year-old crime-show host was convicted of forming an organized criminal syndicate. She and the group imported raw materials from abroad to manufacture and traffic synthetic narcotics. Authorities reportedly seized more than 750 kilograms of narcotics and raw chemical components.

As a result, prosecutors relied on 20 witness statements alongside digital forensic evidence. That included WhatsApp messages, photos, and videos detailing drug operations, which were found on Sarah Khalifa’s phone.

Out of 28 defendants in the trial, 12 received death sentences. Nine defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment, and seven were acquitted.

Khalifa has strongly maintained her innocence, stating she has never even smoked a cigarette. Her legal team confirmed they will exhaust all available legal avenues to appeal the ruling.

Before Her Drug Arrest

Prior to her arrest, Sarah Khalifa was a well-known media figure in Egypt. She was most famous for hosting Mission Impossible, a television program on the private channel Al-Mehwar that focused on crime and security issues.

Aside from her media career, she operates a cosmetic surgery clinic and an event production company.

Khalifa, born in Cairo, first entered television at a young age. Initially, she presented the program Min Cairo on the ART network for about three years. After that, she spent several years on Iraq’s Al-Sharqiya channel. That is where she hosted entertainment programs and interviewed figures from the Arab arts scene.

In addition to being on Mission Impossible, she later appeared on other programs, including Trend on Ten. In 2024, she returned to screens with the online entertainment show Sarah and Bika.

Aside from the drug trafficking case, Khalifa was sentenced to a separate three-year prison term. Consequently, this was for assaulting, stripping, and filming her driver inside her home.
