U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to attend the 2025 US Open men’s singles final on Sunday. It will be his first public appearance in the Grand Slam tournament in a decade.

The 2025 US Open is the most lucrative in Grand Slam history, allocating a total prize money in the region of $90 million. The singles champions will each bank a colossal $5 million paycheck, the highest in any Tour-level tournament.

The two men’s semifinals will be decided on Friday. Former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic remains in pursuit of a standalone record of 25 Grand Slams. He will face Carlos Alcaraz in the day match. Top seed Jannik Sinner will be the overwhelming favorite to earn the second finalist berth when he takes on Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the night session.

Trump set to mark US Open return for the first time since 2015

While Trump doesn’t hide his obsession with golf, he has his footprints in tennis. Trump was a fixture at the US Open before he rose to power and watched the 2015 quarterfinal match between Serena and Venus Williams inside Arthur Ashe Stadium in his first presidential campaign. He had reportedly rented one of the US Open’s most spacious and luxurious suites, which he surrendered in 2017 after he became president.

The news of Trump’s return to the US Open, which is held in New York City, has been reported by multiple reputable sources with confirmation from a White House official. Trump is serving his second and final term as President of the United States, and since his re-election last November, he has appeared at multiple high-profile sporting events this year.

The 79-year-old watched a UFC fight in Miami back in April with members of his administration and was given a standing ovation by the crowd inside the arena. And in June, Trump watched Chelsea become FIFA Club World Cup champions and walked to the pitch to hand over the trophy to the winners. And, of course, he attended the Super Bowl in February.
