Ocho Cinco Runs Wild

In case you missed it, Chad Johnson outraced a horse this weekend. Like most, I didn’t think he had a shot to win, not with jockey P.J. Cooksey coming out of retirement for this one. Back in ’93, Cooksey rode a horse that defeated former Bengals wide receiver Chris Collinsworth in a similar race. You’d think if she could do it once, she could do it again. But there was one major difference between Johnson and Colinsworth, that being CJ’s post-modernistic, button-down Zubaz racing top, which I’m convinced had the power to win the race all by itself, regardless of whether Johnson showed up on Saturday or not.

At least this time it was for a good reason. Decked out in Bengals colors, the man known as "Ocho Cinco" outran a horse in a race for charity in Cincinnati. The speedy wide receiver got a head start but didn't seem to need it against Restore the Roar, after beating the 4-year-old colt by almost 100 meters. Doesn't seem that difficult? Well, it's been tried before, and without much success. Most notably another Bengals receiver, Cris Collinsworth, attempted the same feat in 1993 and couldn't pull it off. After greeting the horse at the end of the 1/8 mile race, Johnson proclaimed he was ready to take on Floyd Mayweather, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Jeff Gordon in their respective sports. Once again, Chad continues to be a model of humility.
