I’m going to call this rumor one of the greatest sports urban legends of all time. There is very little evidence to support it, but if true, Cal Ripken, Jr. can take solace in this. According to imdb.com, Kevin Costner’s frontal nude scene in For Love of the Game, an uninspiring box office blunder of a baseball epic, was left on the cutting room floor “after being met with laughter at test screenings.” Ouch.

With all of the talk about Ripken's pristine legacy and his election into the Hall of Fame, I was reminded of a great rumor I had heard a while back: in '94 Cal caught his buddy Costner in bed with Mrs. Ripken, beat the crap out of him, then caused the Orioles to postpone a game in order to preserve 'The Streak.' I hope this rumor is true, because after "The Postman" Costner deserved to have his ass kicked.
