2020 NFL first-round mock draft

At the halfway point of the NFL season, the draft couldn't come soon enough for some fans. Here's a look at our latest NFL mock draft, as of Oct. 28, 2019.

1 of 32

1. Cincinnati Bengals: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

It's become clearer with each passing week that Andy Dalton's days in Cincinnati are numbered. Despite a high ankle sprain, Tagovailoa is still the likely first quarterback taken in 2020. Before the injury, he completed nearly 75 percent of his passes for 11.2 yards per attempt.

2. Miami Dolphins: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Josh Rosen has yet to show anything that would indicate he's the answer at quarterback for Miami. Herbert is nothing if not efficient, completing 68 percent of his passes with 21/1 TD/INT through the first seven games of the season. He's made nice strides after a down junior season.

3. Washington Redskins: Chase Young, DE, Ohio State

Washington has spent big on the defensive line in the draft in recent years, but with its long-term quarterback problem already addressed after taking Dwayne Haskins this year, the team could dip into the defensive pool again. Young looks like clearly the best defensive player in the class, as an elite sack artist with 10.5 sacks last year and 13.5 sacks in his first eight games this season.

4 of 32

4. Atlanta Falcons: Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State

Joseph Maiorana / USA Today Sports Images

Okudah has been a shutdown corner for the Buckeyes this season, and he's also made plenty of big plays. Through eight games, he has had three picks and three passes defensed. Atlanta's defensive talent has deteriorated to the point that they should just take the best player available.

5. New York Jets: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia

Bryan Lynn / USA Today Sports Images

The Jets have had issues blocking in the early season, and Thomas is a potential solution. He's got ample size at 6-foot-5, 320 pounds and can step in as a left tackle immediately.

6 of 32

6. New York Giants: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama

The Giants like what they have in quarterback Daniel Jones, but the big-play threat has been lacking after trading Odell Beckham Jr. It was clear last year that Jeudy would be the top wideout in the 2020 draft, and nothing has changed. After finishing with 1,315 yards and 14 scores in 2018, he has 682 yards and eight scores in eight games in 2019.

7. Denver Broncos: Grant Delpit, S, LSU

The Broncos have so many needs that it's unclear where they should start. Delpit could potentially go in the top five picks, showing great size at 6-foot-3 and speed. He had 74 tackles, five sacks, and five picks last year, though the big plays haven't come yet so far this year.

8 of 32

8. Cleveland Browns: Trey Adams, OT, Washington

The offensive line has been a weak link for the Browns this season, preventing their numerous weapons from performing as expected. Adams is a huge presence at 6-foot-8 with great ability, but he could drop due to his past injuries.

9 of 32

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jacob Eason, QB, Washington

Casey Sapio / USA Today Sports Images

Is it time for the Bucs to move on from pending free agent Jameis Winston? The jury is still out after the first half of the season. After transferring from Georgia, Eason is having a great year for Washington with 1,981 yards passing and 16 touchdowns in eight games. He has all of the traits teams look for in a pocket passer and the strong arm that's a perfect fit for Bruce Arians' offense.

10. Miami Dolphins (via Steelers): Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn

After getting their quarterback, the Dolphins should be in position to take the best player available. A massive defensive tackle, Brown has 30 tackles, four sacks, and two forced fumbles through eight games in 2019.

11 of 32

11. Los Angeles Chargers: Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson

Mark J. Rebilas / USA Today Sports Images

Simmons is an extremely versatile defender who has potential at either linebacker or safety. He has 64 tackles and six sacks in his first eight games this season, showing ability to rush the passer and drop into coverage. He'd be a perfect complement to star safety Derwin James.

12 of 32

12. Las Vegas Raiders: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma

The Raiders thought they'd have an electric offense with Antonio Brown this season, but that story didn't end favorably. Lamb has been an explosive playmaker in all three seasons of his career at Oklahoma. He is averaging a whopping 27 yards per reception through eight games. The speedster has 816 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first seven games this season.

13. Las Vegas Raiders (via Bears): Yetur Gross-Matos, DE, Penn State

The Raiders invested big in the defensive line during this year's draft, but there's still more work to do. Gross-Matos had eight sacks last season, and he already has 5.5 in six games for the Nittany Lions this season.

14 of 32

14. Arizona Cardinals: Raekwon Davis, DT, Alabama

Arizona needs help up front on both sides of the ball, and Davis could be a steal if he drops this far. He was upstaged by Quinnen Williams last year after recording 8.5 sacks in 2017, but he's still done an excellent job plugging the run.

15 of 32

15. Philadelphia Eagles: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama

Philadelphia Eagles: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
Mark J. Rebilas / USA Today Sports Images

The younger brother of Eagles star wideout Stefon Diggs, Trevon played only six games last year but has bounced back nicely in his senior season. He has good size at 6-foot-2 and has three picks in eight games this season.

16. Jacksonville Jaguars: C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida

Kim Klement / USA Today Sports Images

Trading Jalen Ramsey creates a need at cornerback for the Jaguars. Henderson is a strong coverage corner who regularly made big plays before this season, with six picks and three sacks over the last two seasons. He's had fewer opportunities this year, missing time with an ankle injury.

17 of 32

17. Tennessee Titans: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

If Ryan Tannehill doesn't convince the Titans that he's the long-term answer, they will be in the market for a quarterback. No player has helped his stock this year more than Burrow, who could certainly be a top-five pick when all is said and done. He's in the thick of the Heisman race, completing 79 percent of his passes for 2,805 yards and 30 touchdowns through eight games. He also has plus mobility.

18 of 32

18. Detroit Lions: A.J. Epenesa, DE, Iowa

Detroit Lions: A.J. Epenesa, DE, Iowa
Jeffrey Becker / USA Today Sports Images

The Lions are building a strong defense but still need help getting to the passer even after giving Trey Flowers big money. Epenesa is off to a slow start with 3.5 sacks in eight games, but he had 10.5 sacks in 13 games last season.

19 of 32

19. Carolina Panthers: Bryce Hall, CB, Virginia

Carolina has been an elite defense this year, but you can never have too many cornerbacks. Hall's season ended early due to an ankle injury, but he's been extremely productive in four seasons for Virginia.

20. Jacksonville Jaguars (via Rams): Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama

Butch Dill / USA Today Sports Images

The Jags have something with Dede Westbrook and D.J. Shark, but they could still use more upside at wideout. Ruggs has been a big-play machine at Alabama, with 19.7 yards per reception and six scores in eight games this year.

21 of 32

21. Dallas Cowboys: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

Dallas Cowboys: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
Kim Klement / USA Today Sports Images

Dallas has a strong, young secondary but could still use more reinforcements with Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis entering their fourth years in 2020. Fulton has been a shutdown corner lately at LSU, already with eight passes defensed in eight games.

22 of 32

22. Miami Dolphins (via Texans): Tyler Biadasz, OC, Wisconsin

Jeff Hanisch / USA Today Sports Images

Miami needs all the help it can get on the offensive line. Wisconsin is an offensive line factory, and Biadasz is its next big prospect. Biadasz is a mauling run blocker and the top center in the 2020 class.

23 of 32

23. Indianapolis Colts: Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado

Ron Chenoy / USA Today Sports Images

The Colts seem comfortable with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback but need more weapons to help him. Shenault is built for a short passing scheme and would be a perfect complement to speedsters T.Y. Hilton and Parris Campbell. After gaining more than 1,000 yards last year, he's slowed down in a struggling Colorado offense in 2019.

24 of 32

24. Minnesota Vikings: Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson

Stefon Diggs' future in Minnesota still seems to be up in the air, at least after this season. If the Vikings move on, 2020 is a great year to take a wideout. Higgins is a great red-zone target at 6-foot-4, and he had 12 touchdown catches last season. He's on pace for more than 1,000 yards in 2019.

25 of 32

25. Baltimore Ravens: Paulson Adebo, CB, Stanford

The Ravens cornerback issues caused them to trade for Marcus Peters, but it remains to be seen if he will be re-signed. Adebo has been a playmaker and willing tackler over the last two years for Stanford, with six picks and 91 tackles over 20 games.

26 of 32

26. Seattle Seahawks: Dylan Moses, LB, Alabama

Moses is out for the year with a torn ACL but could still leave if he gets an early-round grade. The Seahawks have gotten younger in the secondary, and linebacker could be next.

27 of 32

27. Buffalo Bills: Julian Okwara, DE, Notre Dame

Okwara is a great fit as an edge rusher for Buffalo and has improved each season with Notre Dame. He had eight sacks last year and has five sacks in his first seven games of 2019.

28 of 32

28. Green Bay Packers: Austin Jackson, OT, USC

Green Bay Packers: Austin Jackson, OT, USC
Mark J. Rebilas / USA Today Sports Images

Left tackle David Bakhtiari continues to struggle while playing through injuries, and right tackle Bryan Bulaga will be in his 10th season next year. Jackson is a fine tackle prospect and former top recruit.

29 of 32

29. Kansas City Chiefs: Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma

Kansas City Chiefs: Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
Kevin Jairaj / USA Today Sports Images

The Chiefs have been able to piece together a viable secondary this season but have really struggled at linebacker. Murray has been a tackle machine for the Sooners, with 155 tackles last season and 55 tackles in eight games this year.

30 of 32

30. New Orleans Saints: Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia

New Orleans Saints: Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
Dale Zanine / USA Today Sports Images

Drew Brees' future is in doubt and Teddy Bridgewater is a free agent following 2019, so the Saints could be in the market for a quarterback. Fromm is completing more than 70 percent of his passes this year, though he hasn't put up the big numbers that he did the previous two years. His strong arm and intangibles still make him a potential first-round prospect if he does leave for the NFL.

31 of 32

31. San Francisco 49ers: Walker Little, OT, Stanford

San Francisco 49ers: Walker Little, OT, Stanford

The 49ers offensive line has been banged up this season, and Joe Staley could retire after this year after fighting injury. Little could help from down the road at Stanford, though he's missed nearly all of 2019 with a knee injury.

32. New England Patriots: Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri

Jay Biggerstaff / USA Today Sports Images

The Patriots offense hasn't been the same without Rob Gronkowski, but there are some capable tight ends in the 2020 crop. "Albert O." has struggled with injuries over the last two seasons, but he's a force in the red zone when healthy. He has 23 touchdowns in 25 career games with Mizzou.
