Mason Graham is the player featured this week for another Browns 2026 player profile. Cleveland selected Mason fifth overall in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. As he prepares for the 2026 season at age 22, let’s take a look at his brief history with the team and what his future may hold.
Born on September 2, 2003, in Mission Viejo, California, Graham attended Servite High School in Anaheim before committing to the University of Michigan. Throughout his collegiate career, Mason totaled 108 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and nine sacks in 39 games with 27 starts. A two-time All-American and member of the 2023 national championship team, Graham quickly established himself as one of the top interior defenders available in the draft. His background as a standout high school wrestler adds to his leverage, power, and competitiveness.
Graham checked in at the scouting combine, standing 6’-3” and weighing in at 296 pounds, while only performing on the bench press for 24 reps. Unfortunately, Graham was dealing with a left heel bruise that kept him from performing the on-field drills. It would have been interesting to get his full numerical set, considering his obvious burst and closing speed.
However, the film clearly showed the explosiveness, strength, and quickness that scouts covet in the draft, and it was clear teams would select him quickly once he entered the NFL.
Graham’s rookie season in 2025 saw him with a starting role immediately, appearing in all 17 games with 17 starts. He recorded 49 tackles (28 solo, 21 assisted), 0.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, and four passes defensed. His presence helped anchor the interior of the defensive line, with flashes of dominance that improved as the season progressed.

Graham is entering the second year of his four-year rookie contract worth approximately $40.9 million with full guarantees, including a base salary in 2026 of roughly $1 million with additional roster bonuses. The Browns hold a potential fifth-year option for 2029.
As a second-year player, Graham is poised for a significant leap in production and impact. With continued development in the defensive scheme, Graham has the potential to become a dominant interior force and an every-down disruptor. Considering the defense under new DC Mike Rutenberg is simply going to be the old defense with a little more attitude, the ceiling for the talented first-round pick will continue to rise.
The obvious key for Graham to improve and earn a long-term extension in Cleveland will be consistency, refining his pass rush arsenal, and staying healthy, available, and productive as a pro. If he builds on his promising rookie foundation, Mason Graham could emerge as a cornerstone of the Browns’ defense for years to come.
Mason Graham possesses the mentality and the physical makeup to become an elite weapon in the center of the Browns’ defense. As Nate Tice put it prior to the 2025 draft, “The human hand grenade, Graham, is constantly exploding off the ball and creating havoc in the middle of an offense.”
