Following two camps with the Wisconsin football program, a 2026 offensive lineman from Illinois is beyond impressed with the program.
Zach Poole, a versatile 6-foot-7-inch, 306-pound lineman, camped twice with the Badgers in just a matter of weeks. Poole is a rising athlete who also wrestles and plays baseball, which is a trait that the Wisconsin staff often looks for in linemen and tight ends. The lineman is also expected to take a campus visit in the near future which could result in a potential offer.
Poole had great showings in front of the Wisconsin football staff that allowed the recruit to display his ability to keep defenders at bay. The lineman has quick, agile feet along with great power and a strong base when blocking powerful opponents. Poole is a hard person to move and even harder to move around given his agility that has been on display.
Following the camps, Poole stated, “Both in my eyes went really well, there is always room for improvement but I really believe I dominated at both camps.” The recruit played well during each camp, but left each impressed with the staff more so than himself. “I really love this staff here at Wisconsin, I’ve visited a lot of places around the country and none of them show the amount of love, energy to the game of football the way the coaches at Wisconsin do,” said Poole.
The praise for the Wisconsin football staff was also specifically directed towards offensive line coach AJ Blazek. “The energy right off the bat was just full of energy and I love that. Coach Blazek and the rest of the offensive line staff have made me fall in love with Wisconsin football,” stated Poole.
For Poole, nothing but amazing things can be said about the Wisconsin football program and coach Blazek in particular. Blazek has become a recruiting catalyst for Wisconsin and will be the key factor in potential commitments from Poole and other offensive line recruits.
The Wisconsin program has long had an amazing track record of producing NFL quality offensive linemen which has allowed for many commitments and recruiting boosts in the past. Now, Blazek has become a leading figure in the recruiting department for the Badgers and his effect can be felt. The coach previously landed key recruits for Wisconsin such as Logan Powell, Benjamin Novak, and Maddox Cochrane.
“Man Coach Blazek knows his stuff, he’s got a huge track record of developing really good and talented offensive lineman,” stated Poole. When asked about Blazek potentially being a favorite with recruits, Poole responded, “That would be an understatement.”
Poole went on to praise Blazek, stating that “so much” improvement has been made during a short period of time around the coach.
