The Atlanta Falcons have completed their interview with San Francisco 49ers director of scouting and football operations Josh Williams for their vacant general manager role. Williams previously spoke with the Falcons regarding their President of Football position, which was ultimately awarded to former quarterback Matt Ryan.

Williams is no stranger to NFL GM consideration. He was a finalist for the Jacksonville Jaguars' general manager job last offseason, though the team ultimately selected James Gladstone.
In his current role with the 49ers, Williams oversees both pro and college scouting, contributes to player development, and plays a key role in contract negotiations. He is considered a key part of general manager John Lynch's staff.
Williams has spent 15 seasons with the 49ers, steadily climbing the organization's ranks. His journey includes serving as a national scout from 2022–23, an area scout from 2017–21, and a national football scouting representative in 2016.
Williams initially joined San Francisco in 2011 as a scouting assistant before being promoted to pro personnel scout in 2013, a role he held for three seasons.
