The San Francisco 49ers have shown interest in former Texas cornerback Malik Muhammad, according to comments he made during a recent interview. Based on how the question was phrased, it remains unclear whether Muhammad previously met with the 49ers at an event such as the NFL Scouting Combine or if a formal meeting is scheduled ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Regardless, the 49ers are clearly intrigued by the young defensive back.

Secondary help is one of the 49ers' key needs entering the draft. Many draft analysts project Muhammad as a Day 2 selection, with the potential to come off the board in the second or third round.
Muhammad measured 6-foot-0 and 182 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine, where he posted a 4.42-second 40-yard dash, a 39-inch vertical jump, and a 10-foot-10 broad jump.
He spent three seasons at Texas, totaling 97 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, and 16 passes defensed, according to Sports Reference.
In 2025, Muhammad recorded 30 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, and four passes defensed, earning second-team All-SEC honors.
