Deebo Samuel’s stint on the sidelines isn’t expected to last for much longer.
The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver reportedly plans to play Sunday in his team’s Week 4 contest against the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reported the news late Saturday.
Samuel suffered a calf strain in the second half of the 49ers’ Week 2 loss against the Minnesota Vikings. The 2021 Pro Bowler was quickly ruled out for Week 3 and was initially expected to miss at least a few weeks.

But Samuel looked comfortable in practice earlier this week and was upgraded to “questionable” heading into the weekend.
With the 49ers scuffling to a 1-2 record to start the season, the team needs all the help it can get to regain its status as a Super Bowl contender.
In two games this season, Samuel has tallied 13 catches for 164 yards.
