San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters following the team's first practice of its two-day mandatory minicamp. He shared several important injury updates as the 49ers near the conclusion of their offseason program.
Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk continues his rehabilitation after suffering ACL and MCL injuries in October. While he's not expected to be ready for the start of training camp in late July, Aiyuk was spotted lightly jogging and coaching up teammates during Tuesday's practice, a positive sign in his recovery.
"He's making his way back," Shanahan said. "He's still in the middle of it. So, he's working through that. He's been around, been rehabbing for the most part, but he's been out to some practices, and it was good to have him out today."

Shanahan also addressed the status of several other players recovering from injuries. Safety Malik Mustapha, linebacker Curtis Robinson, and rookie quarterback Kurtis Rourke, all dealing with ACL injuries, are not expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
First-round pick Mykel Williams is nursing a tight hamstring, but the injury is considered minor, and the defensive end is expected to be available when camp opens.
"We're just being smart," Shanahan said. "He could go this week (if there was a game), but we'll just hold him for training camp."
Additional players who did not practice or were seen working on the side but are expected to be ready for camp include wide receivers Ricky Pearsall (hamstring) and Jauan Jennings (calf), defensive tackle Alfred Collins (calf), offensive lineman Andre Dillard (ankle scope), safety J'Ayir Brown (ankle cleanup surgery), safety George Odum (knee), and defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (knee).
With Aiyuk likely sidelined at the start of the 2025 season, Pearsall and Jennings are projected as the Week 1 starting wide receivers. Although Pearsall tweaked his hamstring earlier in the offseason program, the injury is not believed to be serious.
"He's really pretty good now," Shanahan said of Pearsall. "We're just being safe, so he'll be good by training camp."
