San Francisco 49ers cornerback Renardo Green exited Thursday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a hamstring injury. After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan wasn't sure how serious the injury was.
"We'll have to get more imaging on that tomorrow to see if he pulled it," Shanahan said in his post-game press conference.
As expected, Green did not participate when the 49ers returned to the practice field Saturday afternoon. However, one 49ers insider shared an encouraging update following the session, noting that Green was at least seen on the practice field just two days after suffering the injury.
"Green's hamstring injury appears to be more on the mild side, as he was seen conditioning on the practice field," NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco wrote.
That's certainly a positive sign for Green, who is expected to be one of the 49ers' starting outside cornerbacks this season alongside Deommodore Lenoir.
Lenoir is also dealing with an injury. He did not practice Saturday due to a shoulder issue. However, his setback doesn't appear to be too serious, as the cornerback is considered day-to-day.
For now, Green appears to have avoided a more serious issue. The second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft started 14 games last season and is entering his third NFL campaign.
The 49ers will certainly be hoping both Green and Lenoir can return to the practice field soon. With the regular season approaching, getting their projected starting cornerbacks healthy will be a priority for San Francisco.
