49ers' Kyle Shanahan reacts to viral Jimmy Garoppolo, cheerleaders video

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has seen the viral video involving quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo interacting with Golden State Warriors cheerleaders.

"It's a normal thing," Shanahan said about Garoppolo receiving such attention during a Wednesday appearance on San Francisco sports radio station KNBR, as shared by Tzvi Machlin of The Spun. "I've been at fundraisers with him and it's a tough life he's got to live. I've seen it before though so it doesn't surprise me."

Garoppolo found his name trending on Twitter when he was clearly the favorite of Warriors cheerleaders among multiple San Francisco players as Golden State hosted the San Antonio Spurs. Even the referee couldn't help but notice that Jimmy G was the real star of that particular moment:

To be fair, the 49ers players seem to understand who they have in the locker room. Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area pointed out in October 2020 that All-Pro tight end George Kittle remarked that Garoppolo looked "very handsome out on the field" at that time.

It also doesn't hurt Garoppolo and the 49ers were coming off a 22-16 win over the Los Angeles Chargers that improved them to 5-4. Per ESPN stats, Garoppolo heads into Week 11 of the season sixth among eligible quarterbacks with a 100 passer rating, third with an average of 8.1 yards per pass attempt, and 19th with a 48.2 total QBR. In eight games, he has 11 touchdown passes and four interceptions.

"Handsome Jimmy" and the 49ers next face the 4-6 Arizona Cardinals this coming Monday night.
