49ers' Nick Bosa lost for season with torn ACL

A Monday MRI confirmed the worst fears held by San Francisco 49ers personnel. Nick Bosa, the 2019 Defensive Rookie of the Year, suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium and will miss the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old was carted off the field halfway through the first quarter of Sunday's game after he injured his left knee. San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters following the game he believed Bosa had torn his ACL.

Despite the 31-13 victory over Gang Green, Sunday was a brutal day for the 49ers. Bosa was one of a handful of noteworthy San Francisco players who went down to leg injuries, and both Shanahan and San Francisco defensive lineman Arik Armstead suggested the MetLife turf was the culprit responsible for the Niners' woes.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that an independent field inspector cleared the turf before the weekend. The 49ers play the New York Giants at MetLife this coming Sunday.
