Jauan Jennings and Tre’von Moehrig are both awaiting potential discipline from the NFL following a tense postgame incident after Monday night’s 20–9 win by the San Francisco 49ers over the Carolina Panthers.
The altercation occurred during postgame handshakes, when the 49ers' Jennings approached the Panthers' Moehrig and delivered a pair of open-handed swipes to Carolina's safety as Jennings was quickly pulled away.
Footage from the game emerged later, showing Moehrig appearing to hit Jennings below the belt after a play. The act was not flagged when it happened, but it seemingly triggered the retaliation.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan referred to that unsportsmanlike action as a “cheap shot.”
“The guy took a cheap shot and hit him in the balls,” Shanahan said. “I was real proud of Jauan for not losing his mind out there and getting to the sideline.”
Jennings didn’t hold back when explaining his delayed, post-game reaction to that Moerigh action.
"Man, TV (is) going to tell you what happened, man," Jennings said. "I was just responding to, to me, some childish behavior. That's all it was."
Moehrig gave his version after the game, stating there was more buildup than the cameras showed.
“It just manifested,” Moehrig said. “He wanted to do some stuff after the play, talking crazy, so that’s all there is to it.”
Moehrig also acknowledged there’s no personal history between them leading to this altercation.

The NFL is reviewing the incident and will announce any fines or punishments by Saturday. The league considers postgame misconduct a violation that could carry a $14,491 fine.
Jennings has previously been fined twice for separate on-field incidents, including $11,817 for unsportsmanlike conduct last season.
The 49ers improved to 8–4 and will host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The Panthers, meanwhile, dropped to 6-6 and will play the Los Angeles Rams next, with both kickoffs set for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
