With the San Francisco 49ers on a bye week after the disappointing 29-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the talk around the team has been about who the team will target ahead of Nov. 10’s trade deadline. As rumors will surround the 49ers until then, the one position that has been attached to the team is wide receiver, as this member of the media gives an interesting take on the pursuit.
Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated would cite NFL insider Jeremy Fowler’s report of San Francisco being in the market for a wide receiver and how they’re exploring trade options and calling teams. Cohn would “commend” the team for hunting for a receiver, especially with the injury concern surrounding star Mike Evans, who is dealing with Achilles tendinitis.
“Seems like a trade for a big-time wide receiver might come right at the deadline,” Cohn said. “So first off, I want to commend the 49ers. You need to be aggressive. You need to get a wide receiver because your season depends on Mike Evans’ Achilles tendon right now, and that’s not a good place to be.”

Cohn would continue talking about the top wide receivers that could be available for the 49ers to trade for, as he first mentions New York Jets star Garrett Wilson. While there have been reports of the Jets not being interested in trading Wilson, Cohn wonders if that could be another way of wanting a team to add another first-round pick, though that could change after a few more losses.
However, a few other names that he throws out are New Orleans Saints’ Chris Olave and Houston Texans’ Nico Collins.
“Maybe the Niners find someone that no one’s thinking about, like Chris Olave. That team in New Orleans is two and five,” Cohn said. “Maybe they could also get Nico Collins, who hasn’t gotten many passes the last couple of weeks with the Texans. I don’t know, but there’s options.”
At any rate, it remains to be seen what the 49ers do ahead of the trade deadline of Nov. 10.
