49ers Pro Bowl DE Nick Bosa ruled out vs. Cowboys with concussion

The San Francisco 49ers held a two-possession lead at 16-7 heading into halftime of their NFC wild-card game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. If the Niners were to hold on, they would become the first road team to win during wild-card weekend thus far, as the Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles all came up short in their respective road bouts.

However, San Francisco found out early in the third quarter that it would have to play the rest of the game without arguably its best defender.

Bosa -- a two-time Pro Bowler who finished fourth in the NFL in sacks (15.5) during the regular season -- took a "blow to the head" late in the first half per ESPN NFL reporter Nick Wagoner and didn't join his teammates on the sideline after intermission. Bosa tied Pittsburgh Steelers superstar T.J. Watt for the NFL lead in tackles for loss with 21 during the regular season as well.

The 24-year-old former second overall pick is in his third NFL season.
