Brock Purdy led the San Francisco 49ers to a 23-19 wildcard round win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Pro Bowl quarterback finished with 18-of-31 completed passes for 262 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Purdy also added 24 rushing yards on nine carries.

Purdy was indirectly involved in one of the more contentious moments in Sunday’s game. Eagles star Jalen Carter was called for a penalty after a late hit on 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings. Carter was flagged for a personal foul against Jennings in the fourth quarter and is now awaiting the NFL’s punishment decision for a possible fine.

The incident happened early in the fourth quarter during a 49ers trick play. Prudy handed the ball over to Jennings, who threw an incredible 29-yard touchdown pass to running back Christian McCaffrey.

Carter flew in for the tackle after Jennings released his pass. The referees deemed the Eagles defensive tackle's hit to be excessive, prompting a roughing the passer penalty against Carter. It resulted in an 8-yard penalty in favor of the 49ers after the touchdown.

Purdy spoke about the incident after the game. The 26-year-old QB admitted that he holds some regret about his role in the contentious sequence.

“I was on the edge, sort of blocking, sort of not on the play, and then I look back, saw JJ get hit, and I was like, ‘Dang. Should I have done something about that?’” Purdy said, via NBC's Pro Football Talk.

The NFL Officiating Department will now investigate Carter's foul. For context, roughing the passer penalties are subject to fines of $17,389 for a first offense and $23,186 for a second. Carter has not been fined for roughing the passer this season.

Purdy and the 49ers are now headed to the divisional round. They will face the No. 1 seed Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.
