The San Francisco 49ers escaped Week 1 with a narrow win over the Seattle Seahawks, but they still had to pay a steep price. On top of losing star TE George Kittle with a hamstring injury, they will also have to be without Brock Purdy.
The Niners quarterback is reportedly dealing with a shoulder injury. However, it will be a foot injury that will keep him on the shelf for a little while, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
"Brock Purdy is a long shot to play this week," Rapoport said on "Good Morning Football." "It could be a multiple-week injury. My understanding is that Brock Purdy is out 2-to-5 weeks with what is essentially a variant of turf toe. It's a ligament injury that affects the bottom of the foot."
Rapoport said that while they will rule him out of the next two games, there's no guarantee that he will be healthy enough to take the field again after that. For now, it'll be Mac Jones' turn to run the show:
"Two to five weeks for Brock Purdy, which would put him out for at least the Saints' game this week, the Cardinals game next week, and then we'll see," Rapoport said. "No one knows how it's going to react, but certainly it looks like the 49ers are looking at probably two starts with Mac Jones."

Kyle Shanahan was reportedly high on Mac Jones during the pre-NFL Draft process, and he's an experienced backup who should be more than capable of leading the offense against two seemingly-beatable teams.
The former New England Patriots draft pick completed 17 of 23 passes for 209 passing yards in two preseason appearances for the Niners, and Shanahan's team will likely lean heavily on the running game in Purdy's absence.
