The San Francisco 49ers made a roster move ahead of Sunday's Week 7 road game against the Atlanta Falcons, releasing defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo.
The move frees a roster spot for the potential activation of wide receiver Christian Kirk (calf) from injured reserve.
Okoronkwo (6-2, 253) appeared in six games this season, including one start, recording two tackles and one sack after signing a one-year contract with the 49ers on August 5.
The defensive lineman was most recently promoted to the active roster on October 16.
The Los Angeles Rams selected Okoronkwo in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, and Philadelphia Eagles.
Across eight NFL seasons, Okoronkwo has recorded 134 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 41 quarterback hits, 18 sacks, four passes defensed, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He has appeared in 87 games, including 14 starts.
