The San Francisco 49ers are adding experience to their special teams unit as organized team activities (OTAs) get underway this week. Veteran punter Thomas Morstead signaled his arrival in the Bay Area by capturing himself in front of Levi's Stadium and sharing it on Instagram. The post is captioned, "Grateful is an understatement!"

Morstead is entering his 17th NFL season. He spent the last two years with the New York Jets. Morstead started his career with an impressive 12-season run with the New Orleans Saints. The seasoned specialist also had brief stops with the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins.

Over his NFL career, Morstead has averaged 46.5 yards per punt and 41.5 net yards per punt, per Pro Football Reference.

The 49ers' current punter, Mitch Wishnowsky, appeared in nine games last season before being placed on injured reserve on November 16 due to a back injury. A fourth-round pick in 2019, Wishnowsky has been with San Francisco for six seasons.
