The San Francisco 49ers gave Brock Purdy a well-deserved contract extension, and it feels like it has been a long time coming.
The deal is worth $265 million and will be for the next five seasons, which is a far cry from what Purdy was getting paid before. As a result of getting picked last in the 2022 NFL Draft, he was getting less than a million a season.
When the Niners announced that they were going to be extending their franchise quarterback, a few of his teammates took to social media to congratulate him. Stars such as George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and Kyle Juszczyk posted their QB on their story.

But not only did Purdy's current teammates give him his flowers, but so did one of his former teammates. New Washington Commanders receiver and longtime Niners Deebo Samuel also congratulated Purdy on his story, saying that the 25-year-old QB had it coming.
"Congrats Brother!!! Well deserved," the former San Francisco favorite posted.

Despite the 49ers having a disappointing 2024 season, Purdy still had a solid year. He finished with 3,864 yards and 25 total touchdowns. Many of his weapons were injured over the course of the season, but Purdy was still able to finish the year with some solid stats.
If the 49ers can stay healthy, Purdy will be looking to lead the team to the top of the NFC West, which is where they were in 2022 and 2023. It will be an adjustment without a star like Samuel, but if anyone can get it done, it's Purdy.
