
Two San Francisco 49ers stars have reacted to running back Nick Chubb's unexpected retirement announcement on Friday night. The All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowl selection is calling it a career after amassing 8,458 scrimmage yards and 59 total touchdowns, including 7,349 rushing yards and 54 rushing touchdowns.
49ers running back Christian McCaffrey reacted to the news by writing, "Congrats, bro. Thanks for all the inspiration."
Later, tight end George Kittle commented, "The game will miss you!"
The two 49ers playmakers, along with several other NFL stars, shared their reactions in the comments section of Chubb's retirement announcement on Instagram.
Chubb spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns, who selected him in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent the 2025 season with the Houston Texans, rushing for 506 yards and three touchdowns in 15 appearances, including nine starts.
Chubb averaged an impressive 5.0 yards per carry over his eight-year NFL career, establishing himself as one of the league's most productive and respected running backs before announcing his retirement.
