The San Francisco 49ers have traded linebacker Dee Winters to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick (No. 152 overall), according to multiple reports.

Winters is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

The 49ers originally selected Winters (5-11, 227) in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of TCU. He spent three seasons with San Francisco, developing into a full-time contributor on defense.

Winters started all 17 games during the 2025 season, finishing with 101 total tackles (67 solo), five passes defensed, and one interception returned 74 yards for a touchdown.

After spending one season with the Denver Broncos, the 49ers brought back Dre Greenlaw, who is expected to start alongside All-Pro Fred Warner in 2026.

Over his three-year NFL career with the 49ers, Winters appeared in 47 games, recording 155 tackles, 10 passes defensed, and eight tackles for loss.
