The NFL officially announced that the San Francisco 49ers will host the Minnesota Vikings in a Week 11 matchup at the iconic Estadio Banorte in Mexico City on Sunday, November 22, 2026. The game will serve as NBC's Sunday Night Football matchup, with kickoff scheduled for 5:20 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock.
News of the 49ers-Vikings matchup was first reported on Tuesday.
The Mexico City showdown will mark the 49ers' second international game of the 2026 season. San Francisco is set to open its regular season against the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia on Thursday, September 10, marking the NFL's first regular-season game in the country.
The NFL will stage a record nine international games in 2026, spanning four continents, seven countries, and eight stadiums. The 49ers are among the 10 NFL teams granted marketing rights in Mexico through the league's Global Markets Program, which allows franchises to expand their brand and fan base internationally.
The matchup against the Vikings will be the sixth regular-season international game in 49ers history. San Francisco previously played in Mexico City against the Arizona Cardinals in 2005 and 2022. The team also faced the Denver Broncos at Wembley Stadium in London in 2010 and the Jacksonville Jaguars at the same venue in 2013.
The 49ers' only international loss came in the 2005 contest against the Cardinals, which marked the NFL's first regular-season game played outside the United States.
The NFL is scheduled to unveil its complete 272-game schedule for the 2026 regular season on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. PT.
